From Caregiver to Founder: The Heart Behind the Mission

For over a decade, Jessica Mwebaza dedicated her life to caring for seniors in their homes. Her mornings began before sunrise and often stretched late into the night, yet she never saw her work as a burden,  to her, caregiving was a calling.

It all began when she helped her grandmother through Alzheimer’s. That experience taught her how patience, empathy, and presence could transform someone’s day. Years later, as a professional caregiver, Jessica carried that same spirit into every home she entered. She learned to listen not only to words but to silence,  to sense loneliness, preserve dignity, and help clients feel capable again.

Her clients became her teachers. She mastered safe mobility, found creative ways to spark memories through meals, and learned that joy often lives in simple routines. Families often told her she had a gift,  a way of making their loved ones feel safe, seen, and cared for.

But over time, Jessica noticed a deeper issue. Too many caregivers felt undervalued, and too many seniors were missing the consistency and compassion they deserved. That’s when she realized,  if real change was going to happen, it had to start from within.

So she founded Sunshine Home Care, built on one guiding belief: Quality Care Begins With the Care Of the Care Givers
